Choose or change the professional

Choose an applicant when you are ready, and change course if plans fall through before work starts. The sections below explain what to check, what to record in chat and when to slow down before making a decision.

ProHelp connects customers and professionals. It does not guarantee workmanship, verify professional qualifications, process payments, hold escrow or provide payment protection. Phone verification confirms access to a number, not a person’s identity or background.

What matters here

Choose a professional after the preferred applicant has answered the important questions and confirmed availability. Selection should reflect the complete proposal: scope, materials, price, timing, access and relevant experience. Do not use it merely to bookmark someone while major terms remain unresolved.

Send a final recap before confirming. Name the expected result, included and excluded items, start time, estimate or final amount, and how changes will be approved. The professional should explicitly agree. Inform other applicants once the position is filled so they are not holding time unnecessarily.

Plans can change. If the chosen professional withdraws or you mutually cancel before starting, write that clearly in chat. Then review other existing applicants or continue the search. Never quietly assign overlapping professionals to the same work without explaining the situation; it creates wasted travel and conflict.

Recommended process

  1. Compare complete offers and select a preferred applicant.
  2. Confirm the job scope, timing, materials and price in the conversation.
  3. Use the selection control only after both sides agree.
  4. If the arrangement falls through, record the cancellation promptly.
  5. Contact another suitable applicant and establish a new written agreement.

A short written recap is valuable whenever the decision affects scope, timing or money. Include what is and is not included, who supplies materials, the expected date, and any condition that may change the price. Wait for a clear reply from the other person instead of treating silence as agreement.

Mistakes and warning signs

Changing your choice does not transfer the first person’s promises, quote or schedule to the next. Start a fresh confirmation with the replacement. If work has already begun, do not treat the situation as a simple switch: document completed work and discuss direct payment for what was agreed.

If a selection control is missing, refresh the active job and check its current status. Do not create duplicate jobs to force the action. Report threats, impersonation or demands for a supposed ProHelp selection fee. ProHelp does not charge for hiring or mediate payment.

ProHelp’s normal posting, applying, chatting and hiring features are free, and ProHelp takes no commission. Customers and professionals settle directly. If behaviour is abusive, deceptive or unsafe, stop the conversation and use report or block. Contact local emergency or law-enforcement services for immediate danger or suspected crime.

Final check

Before leaving “Choose or change the professional”, review the conversation from the other person’s perspective. Make sure the current position on selection, cancellation and replacement is easy to find and does not depend on an older message that was later changed. Correct dates, amounts or assumptions in one new recap. This gives both sides a practical reference and an opportunity to disagree before travel, work or payment.

Keep only information that is relevant to the arrangement. Save appropriate receipts and job records, but avoid copying private details into unrelated conversations. If the other person asks for something unexpected, ask why it is needed and pause if the explanation does not fit the task. Clear boundaries are more useful than rushing to appear agreeable.

When the app does not show the expected action, first confirm the job status and account, refresh the page, and try again on a stable connection. Repeated taps, duplicate posts or duplicate payments can create more confusion. If the issue persists, describe the screen, job and action accurately when contacting support; never include passwords, verification codes or full banking credentials.
