Notifications can alert you about relevant ProHelp activity, including jobs, applications, and conversations. They are useful when a timely reply matters, but you remain in control. ProHelp has an in-app notification preference, while iOS or Android separately controls whether the app may display push notifications. Both layers need to allow notifications for alerts to appear normally.
Enable notifications in ProHelp
ProHelp may offer a notification prompt after an action such as posting a job. You can accept it then, or manage the preference later:
- Open your profile area in ProHelp.
- Open Settings.
- Find Notifications under app preferences.
- Turn the switch on.
- If the phone shows a permission dialog, choose the option that allows notifications.
The in-app switch records that you want ProHelp notifications. The operating-system dialog grants the technical permission to show them. If you previously denied system permission, changing only the ProHelp switch may not be enough; open the phone's settings as described below.
Notifications are a convenience, not a guaranteed delivery channel. Open ProHelp to check current job, application, and chat status when something is important.
Disable notifications
To stop ProHelp notification activity at the account preference level, open Profile, then Settings, and turn Notifications off. You can also disable ProHelp alerts in the phone's system settings. The exact system menu name varies by iOS or Android version, but it is usually under Apps, Notifications, or the ProHelp app details.
Disabling push notifications does not delete notifications already listed inside ProHelp, remove chats, cancel jobs, or block other users. It also does not sign you out. You can continue opening the app and viewing updates manually.
System settings may offer narrower choices such as sound, badge, lock-screen visibility, or notification categories. Those controls belong to the phone and can change with operating-system updates. Use them if you want quiet alerts without turning everything off.
If notifications are not appearing
Check both settings layers. First confirm the ProHelp notification switch is on. Then open the device settings, select ProHelp, and verify that notifications are allowed. On iOS, also check Focus modes and Scheduled Summary. On Android, check battery optimization, background restrictions, notification channels, and Do Not Disturb.
Make sure ProHelp is updated and the phone has internet access. After reinstalling or moving to a new device, the app may need permission again because system permissions and push tokens are device-specific. Open ProHelp after the change so it can register normally.
If only one expected alert is missing, the event may not generate that exact notification, the sender may not have completed the action, or delivery may have been delayed. Check the corresponding job, applications list, notifications screen, or chat directly before assuming content was lost.
Privacy and shared devices
Notification previews can reveal a name or part of a conversation on the lock screen. If other people can see your device, hide sensitive previews in the phone's notification settings while keeping alerts enabled. Use a device passcode and do not share SMS verification codes.
Turning off alerts is different from blocking a user. If a specific person is unwanted, use the profile or conversation's block/report controls instead of silencing all app activity. Likewise, turning alerts off does not change whether your professional profile is shown in marketplace areas.
Troubleshoot a stuck switch
If the in-app switch immediately changes back, confirm that you are signed in and online, then reopen Settings. If the phone never shows a permission prompt, permission may already be allowed or permanently denied; inspect ProHelp in system settings. Restart the app after making system-level changes.
For persistent problems, note the device model, operating-system version, ProHelp version, whether the in-app switch stays on, and which system permission is shown. Send those details to support without including private notification contents unless they are essential and safely redacted.
