If a posted job is no longer needed, the owner can use the job's delete action. The current ProHelp behavior asks for confirmation and changes the job status to cancelled. Think of this as closing the marketplace request, not as a guarantee that every record, message, moderation event, or legally retained item is permanently erased.
Cancel when the task is no longer going ahead, was posted by mistake, changed so substantially that the listing is misleading, or has been resolved another way. If the work was actually performed, use the completion action instead so the status reflects what happened.
Cancel your job
- Sign in with the account that created the job.
- Open the job from your own jobs or profile area.
- Open the owner actions or toolbar menu.
- Choose the delete/cancel job action.
- Read the confirmation message carefully.
- Confirm only if you intend to change the status to cancelled.
- Return to the job list and verify the new state.
The control is owner-only. An applicant cannot cancel a customer's listing. The confirmation exists because the action affects everybody considering or discussing that job.
Cancelling a job is different from deleting your ProHelp account. It also does not erase chat messages or resolve a payment or work dispute by itself.
Before you cancel
If professionals have already applied or you have agreed a visit, send a brief chat message before cancelling. Clear notice helps people avoid unnecessary travel or preparation. Do not disappear after asking somebody to buy materials or reserve significant time; discuss the practical consequences directly.
Save any information you legitimately need about the agreement, subject to privacy and legal requirements. Do not use cancellation as a way to conceal abusive behavior, prohibited requests, or a dispute. Report relevant conduct through ProHelp when moderation attention is needed.
If the listing only has a minor omission, clarification in chat may be enough. If the public scope, location, or expected work is materially wrong, cancellation and a clean, accurate new post is safer than letting applicants rely on outdated information. Avoid running several duplicate versions at once.
Cancelled versus completed
Choose completed when the agreed service has finished. Completion records that the job reached its intended end and can lead into review-related behavior. Choose cancelled when the requested work will not be carried out through that listing.
Neither option is a payment button. ProHelp does not process money, hold escrow, issue refunds, or take commission. If money, materials, or a cancellation fee was discussed with a professional, address it according to your direct agreement and applicable law. ProHelp's status change does not decide who is right in a dispute.
What applicants may see
A cancelled status tells the marketplace that the request is no longer active. Professionals should not assume the job is still accepting work. Existing application or conversation data may remain available where needed for account history, safety, or the product's normal operation; the cancel control is not described as a privacy-erasure tool.
If you need to close the entire account, use the separate account-deletion request in Settings. Account deletion has its own consequences and should not be substituted for managing one job.
If cancellation does not work
Confirm you are viewing a job created by the current account. If only application controls appear, you may be signed into a different profile or looking at somebody else's listing. Check the internet connection, reopen the job, and try the confirmed action once more.
If the job has already changed status, the available actions may differ. Refresh the screen before repeating taps. A temporary mutation error should display an error alert rather than silently confirming success.
Contact support when an owned, active job cannot be cancelled after retrying on a stable connection. Include the job link or identifier, its visible status, approximate attempt time, app version, and a screenshot of the error. Redact addresses, phone numbers, and private chat details unless essential. Never provide an SMS verification code.
